The territories of Northern and Southern Rhodesia were united under the administration of the British South Africa Company from 1889 to 1923. From 1953 to 1963 Southern Rhodesia along with Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland belonged to the Central African Federation. In October 1964 Southern Rhodesia was renamed Rhodesia. On November 11, 1965 Rhodesia declared its independence and on March 2, 1970 became a Republic.

Monetary System

12 Pence = 1 Shilling, 10 Cents = 1 Shilling, 20 Shillings = 1 Pound;

since Fenruary 17, 1970: 100 Cents = 1 Rhodesian Dollar
