Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1494, this island became British Territory in 1670. Following the temporary membership of the West Indian Federation, Jamaica declared her independence on August 6th, 1962. Jamaica is a member of the British Commonwealth.

4 Farthings = 1 Penny, 12 Pence = 1 Shilling, 20 Shillings = 1 Pound;

since September 8th, 1969: 100 Cents = 1 Jamaica Dollar

Obverse crowned head of George VI (1895-1952), facing to left. Rev. coat of arms, value and date. Impressive obverse tone with red and blue over bright luster.
