On January 15th, 1910 the French colonies of Gaboon, Central Congo and Ubangi-Chari-Chad were united to form the administration territory of French Equatorial Africa. Gaboon and Central Congo (renamed Congo Brazzaville) became independent in 1960, so also Chad and the Central African Republic (formerly Ubangi-Chari). The individual states remained as self-governing republics with the Communaute Francaise.
