Burundi (Coins)

Initially belonging to German East Africa, Burundi later became part of the Belgian Trust Territory of Rwanda-Urundi. The country became an independent kingdom on July 1, 1962, and a republic in 1966. Burundi formed an economic union with Rwanda; the unit of currency was the Rwanda-Burundi franc.
