Group of islands in the West Indies including Watlings Island, the former Guanahani or San Salvador. Christopher Columbus landed in Guanahani on October 12, 1492, setting foot for the first time on American soil. The Bahamas became independent on July 10, 1973.

Obverse Coat of arms, date, origin. Rev. Bahaminian Sloop, value. Reflective luster makes coin appear dark in image. Sharp features, but some gray spots and marks reverse keep this one at extra fine.
